Stargazing

Introduction:

On March 30, 2019, a stargazing workshop was held at Mahuli Farms, Asangaon, organized by Stargazing Mumbai. The event was designed to provide attendees with a unique opportunity to view and learn about the cosmos. Arvind Paranjape, the Director of Nehru Planetarium, and his team were the organizers of this event.

Activities:

The event began in the evening and continued until late at night. Participants were provided with telescopes to view various celestial objects. The team helped them identify different constellations and indulged in astro-photography. The discussions were focused on topics of cosmological importance.

Celestial Objects Viewed:

The participants had the opportunity to view various celestial objects through the telescopes. They were able to see constellations like Orega C, Taurus, Orion, Saptarishi, Canis Major, Canis Minor, Leo, Scorpio, Ursa Major and Minor. The team also showed them some open and closed star clusters like the Orion Nebula, Pleiades cluster, and stars like Sirius, the North Star, etc.

In addition, the planets Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn, along with two of its moons, were viewed. Some pictures were clicked by members of the Physics Club who were present at the event.

Conclusion:

The stargazing workshop at Mahuli Farms, Asangaon, was a great success. The participants were able to view and learn about various celestial objects and the cosmos in general. The event was organized smoothly by the team of Arvind Paranjape and Stargazing Mumbai. Overall, it was an enriching experience for all the participants.
