Total Lunar Eclipse 2018
On 31st January 2018, a rare astronomical event occurred, a total lunar eclipse, which was witnessed by the physics club members of DBIT along with their faculty member, Mr. Sameer Hadkar. They visited Xavier's Institute of Engineering, Mahim to observe the event via telescope.

Event Details:

The lunar eclipse occurred on 31st January 2018, with the moon being near its perigee on 30th January 2018. The physics club members of DBIT along with Mr. Sameer Hadkar, a faculty member, went to Xavier's Institute of Engineering, Mahim, to observe the rare astronomical event. The event was organised by Dr. Ashutosh Valavade under the permission given by Fr. Francis D'mello along with Dr. Kalyani, Dr. Narayan, and Dr. Abhijeet as mentors.

Observations:

The total lunar eclipse was a "Super blue blood moon," with the moon appearing 7% larger in diameter and 14% larger in area. The members of the physics club were able to observe the event via telescope and capture photos of the moon during the eclipse.

Conclusion:

The observation of the total lunar eclipse on 31st January 2018 was a unique experience for the physics club members of DBIT, and they were able to witness the "Super blue blood moon" with its larger diameter and area. The event was well organised by Dr. Ashutosh Valavade, under the guidance of Fr. Francis D'mello, Dr. Kalyani, Dr. Narayan, and Dr. Abhijeet as mentors. It was an opportunity for the students to learn more about the moon and its various phases.
